| To all you string breakers
out there (me included) wise up and get yourself a Klippermate stringing
machine. You see, whatever racket sport you play, be it tennis,
racquetball, squash or badminton, the biggest cost you will face is the
price of a re-string.
Your "top of the range"
racquet may cost $150 and it may well last for years, tennis and squash
balls don't cost that much, and you can easily find cheap courts to play
on. Racket sports are pretty easy on your wallet, until you get to the
small matter of re-stringing your racquet.
If like me you play seriously, you
like your racquets strung at a high tension, giving you more control and
power. It's a great feeling when you hit that first shot with your
favourite bat strung just how you like it. You usually get this feeling
when you have just got your racquet back from whoever has strung it for
you, and the $30 you paid them for it. But hey, it was worth it because
you know that very soon you will get that great feeling again! If you play
as much as i do you know exactly what i am talking about.
LET ME DO A LITTLE
CALCULATION HERE
If you like nothing more than
blasting the hell out of a ball, you may break your strings twice a
month (a conservative estimate!) and let's say it costs you $30 per
re-string.
That amounts to
$720 per year!
The Klippermate
costs just $140-$150
Even if you have never strung a
racket before, the klippermate comes with all the instructions you
need to string your rackets. Now don't think you will be stringing like a
pro immediately, it may take you a couple of hours and a few attempts to
get comfortable with the klippermate, this is what happens when you learn
a new skill. However, practice makes perfect, and soon you will be
stringing with more confidence. After this you can now string for your
friends, team mates and anyone else who is in need of a re-string (there
are plenty out there). Even if you charge them say $20, you will have
made your money back within a matter of weeks!

Mark Huddart, Jan 23, 2005This is an excellent
little machine! For any regular player not to have one is a
shame. I more than paid for this within 6 months on the
racquetball courts. My son is now into tennis and I have
expanded into stringing tennis racquets. Decent strings are
cheap on the web and, if you do it yourself, you can easily save
50% per racquet. Tools supplied have worked very well - the
occasional cleaning and or adjustment is all they've needed. If
I were to buy another it would be a "deluxe" klippermate model
with all the bells and whistles - at about 5 times the price of
this little jewel!

Ordered the stringer from Klipper and received it within a few
days. There was no assembly needed. The user manual that comes
with the stringer is excellent. The klippermate manual is user
friendly and will help anyone string a racquet for the first
time. I have been using the stringer for more than two years.
The floating clamps generally hold. They need to be adjusted and
sometimes pop off with certain strings. You can use the stringer
almost anywhere: kitchen table, coffee table, bleachers. As a
general rule, expect to take close to an hour to string a
racquet with the machine. It all depends on the string used.
Natural gut takes a while. I usually buy my strings directly
from Klipper. They are good quality strings and don't cost as
much as the name brands. The klippermate machine has been worth
the price. I have saved considerable money stringing my own
racquets. What used to cost me $30 at a pro shop, now costs me
$8.Peter Davenport, Aug 30, 2006

This machine is awesome. I strung my first racquet in about 1.5
hours, without knowing anything about stringing. The klippermate
manual is great, and their site has string patterns for almost
any racquet. The drop weight takes a little getting used to, but
is fast once you get the hang of it.
They also have great resale value... I saw one go on ebay for
$120.. and it was used for multiple years. I hear these things
last forever too.
It will save you a ton of money, and you can easily experiment
with your strings. I used to get my racquet strung at the local
tennis shop for $30, now I can string mine for $4 (with Prince
Synthetic Gut w/ Duraflex from Tenniswarehouse). It will pay for
itself in a few stringing.
So order your machine. It's incredibly easy to string, and you
will save yourself money right away!Chris Clarkson, Jan 15,

Stringer arrived within 4 business days. Ordered via telephone
and the salesperson was very knowledgable about the product and
strings. Within 3 hours of opening the box I had my racket
strung. Great machine and easy to use. I should have bought this
machine years ago instead of wasting my money on letting someone
else string my racket. I highly recommend this stringer for
DIYers.John Boothman, May 24, 2007

The machine was very easy to assemble, only requiring about 3
minutes. The manual is terrific and really explains the
stringing process. My first test racquet was my old Prince CTS
Approach 90 (14x18). Since this was my first racquet on the
Klippermate, it took a little while to get the hang of the
machine. But, I ended up finishing in a little over 2 hours. My
next few racquets (Babolat Pure Control 98 & Wilson nSix-one)
have been around 1.5 hours. I feel you can gain some speed the
more your string with the Klippermate, but feel that 30 minutes
is not obtainable. The clamps are easy to use and do a good job
of holding the strings securely. Overall satisfied. Great
stringer for the money!

The best place to buy a klippermate is on e-bay, they have
their own store there, and it doesn't matter where you are in the world,
they ship worldwide. The reason why i bought mine from e-bay is that they
have 100% feedback, and if your still not sure if the klippermate is
the one for you, then just read some of the feedback from the many
satisfied customers. The klippermate is also $5 cheaper when you buy on
e-bay!!

PS. I buy all my racquets on e-bay. There are many
"power sellers" with their own stores, and they offer huge discounts on
rackets, you don't even need to bid, and i promise, you will not find them
cheaper anywhere else on the internet. It's a great way to save yourself
money. |
